This place is AMAZING! From the first rate instructors who carefully craft daily curriculum to the welcoming environment and passionate fellow students, Impact Krav Maga is everything I was looking for and more. Before Impact I'd heard very little about Krav Maga - I was searching for a practical self defense course that would provide hands on training for potential real world scenarios. I began my training with the women's course (which is also awesome btw) and then joined the gym full time. What makes Impact truly stand out are Veronica and Yury- as almost every review mentions, they are phenomenal. It's rare to come across two instructors that share the vast amount of knowledge Yury and Veronica have. Their expertise is supplemented with impeccable coaching skills, positive energy and the most humble demeanor you could imagine. If you're shopping around for a new martial arts gym, look no further than Impact Krav Maga.

I usually train Krav Maga in Germany. For my travel to San diego i reached out to Veronica and Yuri for a visit at their school. I was welcomed so warm hearted and it was such a great experience to get to know a different school! Veronica and Yuri are awesome instructors, every technique is explained thoroughly. And because it's always the two of them watching over their students, mistakes are corrected as soon as they occur, so you don't get used to wrong techniques. I especially enjoyed the mix of students at impact krav maga, I was surprised at the amount of women! Veronica and Yuri are wonderful people and my visit at Impact Krav Maga is definitely one of the highlights of my trip to San Diego!

The picture posted is from March 16th, 2019. I am proud to add to my first review. Since then I have achieved 2 belts (Yellow and Orange.) The owners Yury and Veronica continue to give 100% to each student with continuous encouragement, and detailed instruction. They are committed to excellence and make each class worth attending. I have also purchased the online training which is an outstanding source for training at home and preparation for belt testing. I have nothing but the best to say about Impact Krav Maga. If you are looking for this style of self defense, and fitness you have found the right place. I am proud to say I have adopted everyone there as my "Krav Family." Thank you Yury and Veronica for helping me reach some of my goals and your continued support as I progress through my training. (Honorable mention to advanced students who never get tired of helping a student get better! Thank you) (First review) I have always been interested in a self defense practice. As I got older I wanted to feel more in control and confident. Always thought the window of this opportunity was slipping away with age not desire. So with the encouragement of my youngest who’s a black belt in his discipline I decided to attend a class with him and from there this Gma (yep grandma) decided to turn my self doubts into victories. I absolutely love the studio and the instructors are knowledgeable, passionate, patient and very gracious to all levels of abilities. Actually, I also found the advanced students reflect all of these qualities too. Which is a testament to the quality and professionalism at this studio. Everyday I look forward to going and every completed class is one step closer to my goal of becoming a Gma that can kick some a$$

I looked at several Krav Maga training facilities in San Diego and went with Impact. I have not regretted my decision one second. The gym is bright, roomy and well equipped. My fellow students have been very helpful and welcoming to this newbie. Above all, however, Yury and Veronica and outstanding instructors who are patient and always willing to give individual instruction or correction, which has been a huge benefit to me in the starting stages of Krav Maga. If you are looking to get into KM, you owe it to yourself to check out Impact. Take a free introductory lesson and see for yourself.

Questions & Answers

Two parter sorry 😬 Are there "sparring" sessions/classes? Assailants aren't going to hold still for the moves like the videos. Are there children's classes, if so, what age?

Sparring is pretty much invite only once you hit practitioner 1. if you have martial arts experience you should be able to make that quick. they do drills for self defense for about an hour, and then striking lab for half an hour. I actually learned quite a bit about boxing here. if you take it seriously, they will take you seriously. I did a fewartial arts before this place and only left because I moved. I liked it a lot. miss this place.

How does krav maga rate in effectivity as compared with other forms of self defense?

When it comes to self-defense, Krav Maga is one of the best styles. Its practical, uses relatively easy to learn techniques that are designed to be executed in a moment of intense stress. It works with the natural reflexes people have and it focuses on all types of "street violence", such as muggings, assaults, multiple assailants, weapon attacks and much more.

is krav maga primarily a striking, kicking, or grappling art?

Krav Maga uses all of the above. But striking and kicking are used the most and are given more emphasis in training as a consequence.
