I needed concentrated coyote urine, which works great to deter skunks from feeling at home under a porch, because they perceive the scent of a predator. Jeff took me right to it and explained that I should put some holes in small plastic containers and then fill the containers with cotton balls soaked in the scent. This would help the scent last longer. He was as helpful as they always are at Gilford Hardware. Personal attention, patience, and education. But they only had the liquid in stock and I had hoped to also find the spray bottle form as well. So I went to the "other" hardware store on Union Ave in Laconia. The men at the counter laughed as if I were joking. A female employee apologized for them and said the store must have some since it works so well to deter unwanted wildlife. But we couldn't find any on the shelf. She asked the man in charge if there was any in stock. He also laughed as if we were joking, in a really condescending way, and said "What do you want me to do, lady? Milk a coyote?" And that is the difference in knowledge, experience, and customer service between Gilford True Value Hardware and Healh's Ace Hardware.
