Lower Arroyo Park is a peaceful nature park along Arroyo Seco, the dry stream. There are hiking trails on both side of the creek, but they are not paved. Great place for a hike, jog or dog walk. The park is in a valley so it's really quiet. There aren't a lot of amenities though. Restroom is close to the parking lot on the east side of the creek. Head south from the park you'll find the Arroyo Park with a bike path that goes all the way to Montecito Heights; head north from here, you can reach the Rose Bowl.

Love this spot. Archery (with city safety certification), horses, dogs, water, casting pond, bathrooms, wildlife and great hikes.

Wow, I've lived in LA since 1969 and I'd never been to this park ... and it's pretty cool and there is much more of it I can go back and discover. The fly fishing casting pool, though, that was totally unexpected. We liked that there frogs growing along the wedges. And then a decent walk along clear patches LEDs us under the Colorado Blvd Bridge and then under the 134 Freeway. The only down side is that Arroyo Seco smells really bad in places.

Questions & Answers

Is there soft ground or sand for running?

Martha EScudero | Nov 23, 2021
Mike Jackson | Nov 23, 2021

I wouldn't call it soft but it's a good trail for a run. Not as harsh as concrete.

Is there a bathroom?

Yes there are 2 bathrooms 1 for the chicks & 1 for the dudes that's by the Fly fishing area otherwise you have to either walk to the park to use the bathrooms there or you can drive to that park
