My dad bought my first bicycle here over 30 years ago and had serviced my bikes here for years. I have to say, this place will always have my heart. This is a great place to buy bikes and get your bikes serviced. Never disappointed me. Every time I drive down Hawthorne blvd. I always turn my head towards the old Phil's bike shop, and always remember nothing but good memories. I love this place for ever and thank you for being part of our community and my life for years. You made this 39 year old kid very happy for many years and years to come.

Store hours are great. I like that they are open early. I had a bike emergency for tires and pedals and I receive friendly, helpful and speedy service. If I'm back in the area I would definitely return. THANKS MIKE!

Update: Turns out I needed to replace the damaged bottom bracket/spindle otherwise my crank arms would continue to get stripped after a month or so. I mentioned this multiple times to the older gentleman and even showed him the damage. When I went to pick up my bike I found out that the older man did not include a work order for bottom bracket and charged me for the new crank arm. Now, I understand that it is my responsibility to double check the work order but it shows a lack of professionalism when I called beforehand asking about the BB, arrived there and mentioned the bottom bracket as the cause, and also pointed out the damage on the spindle. Any experienced LBS should have been able to identify the BB as the cause of the crank arm's damage. Fortunately the younger man was able to replace the BB within 30 minutes but I do not feel satisfied over the total amount that I paid to get my bike fixed. Will I come back to them in the future if needed? Yes. Despite apparent communication issues they do good work, and the price is reasonable if its what you came for. I would recommend them to anyone. -------- I went in to get the crank arm replaced after it became stuck because of a heavily stripped bolt. The last LBS I went to almost immediately gave up but Phil's did the job in less than 10 minutes. Phil's also repaired the rest of my bike (including a botched brake repair by the last LBS) which I had continuous problems with after getting sideswipped by a car. In no more than 30 minutes I was out with everything in great condition and for a reasonable price. Thanks Phil's.
