My husband and I really enjoyed our 1.5-hour trail ride. The ranch was easy to find, and we loved seeing all of the other animals while the gals got the horses ready. They even let us in the stall with the donkeys. The trail ride was incredible and such an amazing way to explore a different side of San Diego. Sun screen and bug spray are a must! I definitely recommend Surfside Ranch and hope to visit again

The owner’s daughter Eileen was really friendly. The horses were well taken care of. My husband two kids and I took the 1 hr trail ride. The scenery was beautiful. My son has ADHD and talked her ear off the whole time and she didn’t mind at all. My family and I have risen horses before and every time I have gone riding my body hurts and I regret it later. Not this time. I rode Silver he’s beautiful clean and a smooth ride. I fell in love with him the second he was brought out. He is a gentleman. My son loved all the farm animals. The ride was perfect we will definitely be back.

My daughter and I took the 1.5 hr guided ride through the nature preserve adjacent to the ranch. It was a great ride, beautiful scenery and very interesting to ride along the border and see Tijuana, Mexico just over the hill. Ilene was super friendly during the ride and made my little one feel comfortable and have fun the whole time. The horses were very docile and easy to ride. The only thing I would have expected is for the signs to the ranch entrance be more obvious and to have been greeted a bit more warmly. When we arrived it would have been helpful for Ilene , the owner, to introduce herself as such and ask us our names to make us feel welcome. We made ourselves at home anyway and just kinda waited around for her, not knowing it would be her, to tell us to sign in and get helmets. There were lots of cute farm animals to see and pet while we waited. I would definitely come back and recommend friends to come here for a lovely not at all pretentious horseback experience.

We took the hour ride on beautiful trails in December 2021. Our guide was so friendly and kind, I can’t remember her name but she was the owners daughter. We don’t ride so she made sure we were comfortable and told us what to do. The horses were wonderful. We were visiting from NJ so didn’t know where to go and this place was a great choice. My son and I enjoyed our horse riding adventure so much. Would recommend choosing this family friendly ranch . Thank you from Cape May Court House, NJ

Surfside ranch has sunset/Beach rides available, different price.
72.00 for a 1 hour trail ride.
Yes, we have a a few horses that can accommodate to 270lbs. The only thing is we will have to charge an extra fee for anyone over the weight limit of 220lbs!
For horse rides 50$ a piece for an hour. Or 75$ for 1.5 hours.
I’m not clear on your question. There are public areas to bring your horses down and park trailers and enjoy our beautiful trails. If your wanting to ride with our group it’s not really recommended. Our horses are herd animals and have a pecking order and your horse would not be immediately accepted. You could ride behind as long as your horse is well behaved. One horse starts acting up and it can upset the rest of the ride. ie: Running off, running up and down the line Not listening to the guide etc. All in all we cannot stop you from riding the public trails but we would rather not have you in our groups for safety concerns and insurance issues. Thank you for your question.
Hi there, Being that we use a state park we are unable to canter or gallop on the beach, we are only allowed to walk and trot. -Happy trails
Hello Sabin, I’m apologize, but for safety reasons we do not allow children under 2 years old on horses. There is no exception to this rule. Happy Trails
I don't recall seeing one at Surfside but I know there is another one that does rides at the beach. Friesians aren't used a lot for trail here so you'll probably need to find a private party. Try posting in search of on socal horses and tack on Facebook you'll have better luck most likely.
Colorado is an Appaloosa. He also is a POA.
100 dollars per horse , they ride with you, we had a amazing time
