Beautiful hike! But steep at times - and heed the warnings about Timber Rattlers!!! This was one of three sunning on the rocks at the top, and my partner had her foot in the air, about to step on it, but I spotted it in the nick of time. TAKE YOUR TIME & LOOK CAREFULLY!

Bouchoux Trail starting at the trailhead at the end of Bouchoux Road to the small waterfall at the creek is about 1.2 miles in each direction. It is mostly loose rocks through a forest and easy to follow. It is a difficult walk because of incline which is definitely reaches 30 degrees at points. Walking sticks and hiking boots are recommended. The waterfall at the end is pretty but not breathtaking. There are trails that continue beyond the waterfall area. There are no bathroom accommodations on the trail or trailhead. This is a very pleasant nature walk with some long uphills.

There are a few stunning views along this trail. Be sure to stick to the areas you’re allowed to explore, because there is a real risk of injury or worse if you stray too far off the trail. Come in the fall to catch some incredible peak foliage.

An unexpectedly great trail. Was skeptical about the location but there is a normal trailhead and parking lot at the base. The first section of the trail is fairly steep but after that it levels out at the high point. The waterfall and scenic overlook area is about 1 mile from the parking lot. Keep in mind it is easy to miss and overshoot the scenic areas. The scenic overlook is to the right once you cross the first stream. My group kept walking and missed it on the way out. We ended up going about 2.5 miles further down the trail and decided to turn back and then found the scenic overlook.

I have no recollection of a pond from a couple of weeks ago - just the stream that runs over the falls
