Don't know if this is the same rehab I spent 5 weeks in during the 1980's, but mine was next to Maine Medical. It was the best care I had ever experienced and I actually didn't want to leave when they said they had done all they could for me since my insurance was running out. Excellent care, excellent people.

Not a place for vulnerable patients. My wife was not fed properly. The day I picked her up she had two uneaten meals on her table and full bottles of ensure on a table out of her reach. When I spoke to her on the phone, she was frightened to speak for fear of angering the nursing staff. When I picked her up, she had barely been exposed to speech, occupational or physical therapy. Her room was filthy, her clothing stacked on a covered trash container. An other patient's articles of clothing were mixed on hers. 7 changes of clothes were packed in her bags. After a week, only two were used. On discharge her meds were wrong, prescriptions were not placed with the pharmacy of record. My wife had three case workers in 7 days, none of them paid much attention and none of them provided status unless repeatedly pressed. My wife was placed with Northern Light follow on care after discharge. Not given a choice. Nurses were very good. Occupational therapist came once, left us with a container of "therapy" putty for hand exercised, a packet of handouts and then never saw her again. Never saw the speech therapist.

Husband had to be transported from NERH to doctors appt. I hadn't seen him in 2 weeks due to covid restrictions, but met him at doctors. They had him dressed in paper thin hospital johnny with thin blanket draped over his shoulders - no pants, no shirt, no jacket, no shoes. This was in Feb in Maine. He had clothing at NERH, including winter jacket. Appalling NERH would allow a patient to leave their facility with disheveled inappropriate clothing and not take the time to help him dress. This is level of patient care when family is not present. When he went to be discharged we discovered all of his clothing had been stolen. Everything from socks to jackets to sneakers. When I reported it staff did not seemed alarmed or even surprised. Therapists were good, but level of care when family is not around is unacceptable.

I am very disappointed in the discharge planning of this facility. My son was discharged unsafley without needed equipment tp help him at home. He has a broken foot and fractured back. There was no consideration by discharging the discharging staff of the apartment he lives in. His apt is on the third floor with very long hallways to and from the elevator. The only equipment he was given was a back brace and Walker. They refused to give him a wheelchair, instead telling him he had to purchase one. He was unable to hop down the hallway to his apt with a walker and had to purchase crutches on his way home. I am so disappointed in the lack of compassion this staff had towards my sons needs. The social worker there could of at least listened to his requests and attempted to locate a donated wheel chair or let him borrow one. Shame on your social service staff and others involved in his discharge planning. You dropped the ball this time and sent a patient home unsafely.

Many beds
Yes, but only 1 visitor at a time is permitted and you must be masked.
Visiting hours are 8am to 8pm, but they are not enforced. The doors are locked at 8pm, though, so you can't enter after then without security assistance. Not sure when they open. It's sometime before 645 am.
Yes
Patients are offered at least three hours of physical, occupational, and/or speech therapy a day, fifteen hours per week.
