I have lived in Sunset Park (Ocean Park Santa Monica area) for 17 years now. I was in need of some post office services and for convenience went to the Nation Mail Box Center on Pico and and 28th street today. I needed to send a condolence gift and used a priority FLAT RATE (key word here) envelope going from Santa Monica to Playa Del Rey (5 miles distance max) and was charged $15.90. While I was paying, I asked if these are basic post office rates and the woman who is always there told me, in a stern voice, NO! and I can't tell you how much. In that moment, I remembered why I never use this business. Not only is this woman always curt, cold and short but the prices for shipping are DOUBLED. I sent a 8 1/2 x 11 flat rate envelope, that is $8.90 at the post office was charged $15.90. It is wrong. I forgive myself for paying and not walking out but also would like you save anyone else from this MISTAKE!

If you enjoy paying exorbitant amounts of money for deliveries you should definitely go here. They tried to charge me $240 dollars for a fed ex delivery! no bueno, go down the street or anywhere really

I disagree with many of the comments. I have had only good experiences here and the woman who is usually there knows her stuff. When there's a line, there is a wait. My recollection is that at post offices there are also lines. I also like it because I can be assured that my mail will get to its destination. I have had a few experience with traditional mail boxes and have had more than a few letters/bills/check stolen right out of them That has never happened since I started going to NMBC.
