Rowdy guests night and day, abortion protesters and pride flags everywhere. Room had good square footage BUT no air- it was broken! I was surprised no offer to correct that first two nights. For the last night, changed to room across the hall and it was dreamy. Great AC and happy once again!

Carlisle is a little gem of a town just beyond Harrisonburg. The town is a continuously evolving colonial era town. It is genuine. We arrived during a farmer's market day, which gave it a festive air, even if it was raining. People are friendly here, and the population is diverse. We found a little restaurant where I had one of the best fish & chips I've ever tried. The desserts were good too! The crowd was convivial and the service right on the button. Our room was large and airy; no weird smells. The bed was comfortable. Parking was easy. In the morning the breakfast was simple, but appetizing. The restaurant manager and her crew were attentive and solicitous.

This whole hotel smells like old gym socks. The air conditioning is inadequate, so everything feels damp and dirty. The carpets are not clean, and the bathroom floor is sticky. The refrigerator was left unplugged -- which is fine if it's to conserve energy, but then tell guests to plug it in when they arrive. Room was not serviced even though we were told it would be. Not worth it, even for the great location.

I am working in this area for a while and thought I'd stay here because the restaurant is great and it's a great place to walk after work. When I checked in I noticed the A/C was on low so I turned the temp down and went to dinner. When I came back it was a bit cooler. At 2am the A/C just stopped and the room was very hot. I also noticed the floor needed vacuuming and there was hair on top of the duvet. I reported the broken A/C that morning at checkout and the person at the front desk said they already knew it was broken and had an open ticket for the engineer to look at it. Why on earth would you put a guest in that room knowing the A/C was broken on a day where it was 80 degrees outside!?! And not give me a different room or if you were sold out, cancel my reservation and let me know?! Or at least offer me a fan?!
