My wife and I just adopted a new puppy and naturally, we had about a thousand questions and two-thousand things to be anxious over. My wife made our appointment with Manito VCA Hospital to have our new pup checked out. Let me tell you… the ENTIRE staff was nothing short of amazing. From the very beginning the staff did all they could to make our feel welcomed and calm. Our Vet, Dr. Foss (maybe Fauce?) was incredible! She not only gave our puppy 3 vaccines without so much of any noticeable yelp or flinch from pain! Beyond that, she sat with us for an hour and a half answering every anxiety fueled rapid fire question we had! We’ve never had more gracious assistance and care. We are very thankful for this team! Shelby will be back soon! Update: We got a second puppy. A Blue Heeler named Nightmare (he lives up to his name, but we love him.) Recently we got Shelby spayed and Nightmare nurtured (Nightmare was nurtured yesterday 8.15.2022). The folks at Manito, Dr. Pervis, this time, took great care of not only Nightmare, but also his insane anxiety ridden puppy parents… Every time we come, the staff as a whole are nothing less that phenomenal! Thank you all for taking great careShelby and Nightmare! Thank you!

I've been going to VCA Manito since 2016, and even though I moved to the north side I still make the drive across town to this VCA because their care is truly unmatched. My dog Lucy is anxious and does not like other dogs, so she cries a lot but also LOVES seeing the vet. The staff gets her to the room quickly, and they are always so sweet and give her tons of treats. We've seen Dr. Yurenka a few times for random things and she's been great, very gentle and understanding. We also just got some of Lucy's teeth removed recently and our experience with Dr. Purvis and her team has been amazing. It was much cheaper than the estimate they gave me and even though Lucy and I were both scared, I trusted these vets over any other and it went smoothly. Lucy is doing SO much better in the breath and smiles department! So I just wanted to say thank you a million times for the love and care you have given me and my dog. The things that vets see and go through on a daily basis, while still holding space for pet owners and their furry clients is angel status love. Your hearts are so big, you put our pets first appointment after appointment, day in and day out with a smile and that takes courage and compassion that most people don't have. We lost my family vet to suicide in 2012, and I think people forget the mental and emotional strength it takes to be a good vet can be taxing. Please be kind to your vets, they do everything they can to make sure your pets are well and that you leave happy. Things like cost are out of their control and if your vet is late to see you, it might mean they were dealing with something extra difficult before you that they might not show. So please be patient and remember to thank your vets!! They are really angels.

We took our dog here a couple months ago for some dental issues. We got a diagnosis, he needed some removals due to an injury likely caused by my daughter's giant puppy (Pyrenees) when the were playing. Probably butted heads. They were very compassionate and openly answered all our questions, and Dr. Cathey even thanked us for getting him the surgery. We went back for a few follow-ups and were so glad to have found a compassionate, loving vet. We knew we'd always take our Batman there from there on. Yesterday (05/19) Batman went to the emergency hospital since it was Sunday and he was diagnosed with terminal cancer, and it was so advanced that a decision needed to be made then and there. We didn't really feel we had a choice, as we didn't want our best friend and family member of 10 years to suffer. There was no way regular blood work would have caught it. I called VCA Manito this morning to inform them, and they'd already received the information, and the hospital manager at VCA told me if I ever needed to talk, no matter how far out, that I could call her. She also told me about a dove remembrance chain they do in November and that we could pick up Batman's after Veteran's Day this year. He was only sick for seemingly a couple days before he passed. We're absolutely still in shock, and these people were so kind to me. I couldn't have asked for better people, for more understanding, than what was given to me today by the hospital manager. She comforted me when I was at my lowest, and she doesn't even know me. I see some of the reviews saying they're expensive, and I understand that, I'm not rich by even the most generous of measures, but if you can find any way possible, your best friend should be seen here. She told me her name but I was crying and can't remember it, but I hope she knows how much her kindness meant to me on my first morning without my best friend.

Before this we would have given them 5 stars, but this was very painful... After a $170.00 visit that included an ultrasound, we were told by our regular vet office of 23 yrs (Manito Veterinary Clinic) that our 13 yr old cat had congestive heart failure, and was in severe pain. We were told that the best thing for him was to euthanize him, or he would die a very painful death within a few hours. We couldn't do it without spending a couple more hours with him, so we made an appointment to euthanize him as late as we could that day. Still not able to do it, so we re-scheduled for 12:30 the following day. There were some signs of improvement and still no sign of pain, so we canceled that death sentence also. We made an appointment for the following day with the Cat Clinic. To our good fortune we met with a wonderful cat fan, Dr Sarah Patterson. She was not told about our previous diagnosis until part way through the assessment. After she ordered some labs on him (which the Manito Veterinary Clinic didn't even offer) they came back mostly normal, with the exception of some minor elevations. She prescribed a few meds with some helpful advice, and our irreplaceable friend is still with us 6 weeks later (8/13/18 - 9/26/18), and enjoying life again, like he had never had a problem . Everyone @ the Cat Clinic has been exceptionally friendly and helpful with our life and death crisis, and it was a relief to find someone that offered life for our friend. Even though they are a 25 min. drive vs 3 min. the Cat Clinic will now be our regular vet. Phil & Chris Holloway

Questions & Answers

Are they an emergency vet also?

No they have closing hours. There are two emergency pet places I can think of off hand. One across the street from Delish burgers, I guess division street. The other near Hunter vets on Mission Street.

My dog has had diarrhea since yesterday morning or Saturday night. Every 1-2 hours she has to be taken outside. I can't pick up her waste because of how liquidy it is. Should I bring her in?

Yes, love 57th VCA, loving helpful staff. I just changed food...that was most of my issues. Or you can start with white rice and chicken, if $ is an issue.

How much does it cost toget my dogs nuts cut

It is a higher than most places in town; however, the level of care and piece of mind was worth the premium. I paid around $250 but that included blood work a week prior, excellent pre-op care, post-op care, pain killers, etc. My little dude was up and causing havoc the same day -- Dr. Cathey(sp?) rules!
