Carpenter Park provides hiking trails for various levels of experience. You could easily fill a day exploring. The grounds are fairly well maintained. I visited in the evening hours and there was very little foot traffic. A nice location if you want to feel secluded without really being secluded.

Does any one hike with there dog by the RR tracks. 2x already we had been by the tracks and our dogs keep going on high alert past the first rr bridge.does anyone else had this happen with there dogs

Great hiking options. Some trails are easier than harder, which is great for all people of varying skill sets. The only thing I would watch out for is that the trails are not marked very well at all. That would be the only problem with this.

Dogs are welcome on a leash. In fact, you will likely encounter others with dogs (on sometimes narrow trails.)
It's suppose to be open dawn to dusk, but some days it takes workers a bit to get out there. I've had good luck after 730am
