I moved into Anaheim in 2020. The house I bought had alot of challenges and city always had an issue with the previous owner. Since I moved in took care of all violations and city was very cooperative in every step. Started a new project, staff inspectors were super friendly and helpful.

Building dept. is money motivated. Their requirements change each visit on same issue . They are rude and condescending. The inconsistency between depts. is staggering. I find their techniques to be disingenuous at best. Nobody in the private sector could remain in business if they conducted business in this manner. Their needs to be a civilian liaison between citizens and this group of “ building officials...” No consequences to their behavior and roving conditions and added requirements. This needs an overhaul... JS

I went to practice baseball with a group of kids ages 6-7 at Maxwell park. While practicing we we told by a anaheim city worker we were not allowed to play on the city park without a permit. ....So a group of kids were kicked off a baseball field not allowed to play yet there were several "camp site" homeless living there and taking baths in the restoms and dogs tied to trees trash everywere... I think this is B.S. that i cant teaches kids to play baseball with out a permit and get kicked off the field..

Anaheim has a very good permitting process that is both expedient and easy. You sign in, get given a number, and called by that number, much like the DMV. The permit techs are knowledgeable and friendly, and there is desk space to work on other projects while you wait.

my guess is no, unless it's an OSHPD project.
Go to the city and speak to the clerk and she will guide you to the right department.
Yes a permit is required for this type of work.
Each city has their own pricing can vary from $200 to $2000 depending on size and scope . Cities use valuation (cost of project) to calculate cost . Ie $8,000 project may cost $400 in permits and fees.
