Very well maintained trails. Fairly steep hike down to the creek.

In spite of the rainfall, great hike with good friends!

Really nice hiking area. Beautiful trails, well maintained, all ranges of difficulty. I went on a mild 80° day and was still cooking from the sun. Must have water. One of the rangers told me that one of the trail cameras captured a photo of a mtn lion right near the trailhead, so there is that. But i plan to certainly return tk finish out the Rodriguez Peak trail. Great views from the trails.

This is a great half a day hike. The views and history are cool and the trail isn't busy at all. The had very clean outhouses at the beginning of the trail (for outhouses). The trail is a bit steep at the beginning but it levels out, sort of. There were a lot of birds of prey flying around and it made my hike more enjoyable.

Nope, South America is the epicenter of diversity in cacti. (A ton grow on trees or rocks in semi-jungle areas.) Mexico has a ton too, the US has relatively few native species compared to anywhere in the Americas. *Cactus are only native to North and South America, anywhere else around the world they've either been planted or escaped cultivation. One species is through to have been carried via birds from Brazil to West Africa. (Rhipsalis baccifera I think?)
It may be because (as far as I know) it's only open weekends and seasonally, and possibly no one updates the Google page.
Free. But bring lots of water, and be in fairly good shape.
Yes. It's closed in August because of the extreme heat. Be very careful of your pet's capabilities on a hot trail. Check their website for the latest news.
Mountain biking could be epic here. We need a community of riders to organize efforts to approach the powers that be to enable MTB riding in Hell Hole.
