Dealing with Mark Smith at PGL regarding some recent appraisal endeavors has been a true pleasure. He was so courteous, pleasant and professional. I highly recommend PGL for any gemology, appraisal and consulting needs you may have. Wonderful folks at PGL!

I went to PGL to get my family heirloom engagement ring appraised to be insured. My appraiser, Mark, was very professional and kind. His insight into the details of the ring were very interesting and gave me some historical context for the different components of the piece. I was very happy to be able to make the appointment directly and get the ring appraised while I walked around downtown. The diamond in my ring was a bit loose so Mark recommended a jeweler right upstairs (ABC), who quickly tightened the prong at no cost to me. I really appreciated how seamless the experience was. PGL is a well-run business and clearly trusted in the Portland community.

The folks at Pacific Gem Lab were friendly and so knowledgeable. My fiancé and I dropped off an heirloom ring to be appraised and, not only did we get our results within about 1.5 hours, but the appraiser sat down with us to discuss all the details. Scheduling an appointment for a same-day appraisal was easy, and we were grateful for the quick turnaround and electronic PDF results that we can understand. We absolutely would recommend Pacific Gem Lab!

Mark at Pacific Gem labs did my appraisal on an engagement ring I had purchased online! I found the location based on searching online as well and the reviews were great, so I figured I’d pass my experience along. It was a great experience, and seamless as can be! First off everyone one was very friendly and helpful which is nice to be greeted well these days upon arrival. Once I sat down with Mark, he was very detailed when we went over everything and how the process works. I had no problem taking off and getting some work done and coming back. Once I picked the ring up, again, everyone very helpful and friendly, and Mark was very detailed in going over everything with me once we sat down again. If you’re needing an appraisal or any other service they offer, I highly recommend Pacific Gem Labs, as I will be using them again in the future!

Hi Jan, We charge $110 for the first item and $90 for each additional item. First we will sort thru your items to determine if they warrant an appraisal or not. For that there is no charge. Give us a call to set up an appointment to come in to see us. Our number is 503-274-7022. Thanks and looking forward to hearing from you! Mona

I am wondering if this company can do an appraisal on a large chandelier? If not, does anyone have any suggestions on who may be able to? Thanks

The best place to contact regarding something like this will be Handley's Rock and Gem or Ed's House of Gems. Both are located in Portland.
