I donβt usually stay at RV parks. I prefer to boondock. But I was on my way to Portal and came across this rv park right off the 191hwy. I stopped to check it out and I decided to stay almost right away π as I was cordially welcome by the owners and quickly got to met other folks staying there. WOW! I didnβt know you could enjoy an RV park as much I have enjoyed my stay here! Itβs a clean, safe, affordable and fun rv park conveniently located among so many wonderful places to visit! As a solo female nomad itβs so important to be safe and surrounded by good people. And this place offers that and much more. I see the NEW OWNERS working daily to improve and add amenities to this already great rv park. Iβll be sad the day I have to leave.

Stayed one night (5/2/2022). Called ahead one day prior and left a message. Cindy called back within 20 minutes and we set the reservation. Pull through site (#4) (30a) was clean, well gravelled, pretty close to perfectly level and had a nice cement patio to drop the steps on. The space was wide enough for us with a slider and room to spare. Electric, sewer and water hookups on site, easy to access and worked. Plenty of room in front of the trailer to park the truck. As has been noted, the park is under new ownership. Had I not known that, I still would've given 5 stars because of the reception we received upon arrival. Just like a KOA costing much more we were met in the truck and escorted around to the site. Cindy them came over to introduce herself and a few minutes later came back ~with the paperwork~ to sign in/register. We were then offered a picnic table which they'd've brought right to us had we accepted. We were briefed on the ongoing construction and site improvements and we found the bathroom and laundry room areas quite acceptable even knowing there is work yet to be done. A good portion of the park is now gravelled and we were advised about the infamous "goat heads"(sticker bushes) that still are present on the outer loop. Many sites have long-term campers in them and talking with the site manger I learned they are planning for more itinerant sites shortly. So, some observations: The highway is literally 200 feet from the pull through sites. But guess what happens in Sunsites, AZ after about 8 P.M. :) It was quiet with no traffic noise except the very occasional car. During our whole stay we heard only one heavy truck go by. While we were there we watched site improvements underway so I do believe them in their efforts to make this a good stopping point while touring around Dragoon and Chiricahua areas. There isn't much to do in the immediate vicinity but this is a good, centralized location to visit Cochise Stronghold and its nature hikes and poke around Sunsites and Pearce. It's also not too far to Chiricahua National Monument, a bit further to Fort Bowie and if you're into astronomy the Tucson Astronomy Club has an absolutely awesome observing site about 18 miles away (look up their Star Parties schedule on Tucsonastronomy.org) The owners could not be more responsive and helpful. I am certain that they are making a serious effort to turn this into a much nicer RV park than has been noted a couple of years ago. They will also let you pull through and dump tanks and throw away refuse. There is a charge, but that's only reasonable considering it's more than 30 miles to the nearest dump station ... and they'll charge there too :) Our experience was good here and I can recommend it.

I would not recommend this park, unless like us, you have to park it somewhere for the night, with no other choices. Space 9 ours, had power. Space 8, our companions had no power and got no refund. Goatheads abound, no bathrooms or laundry as advertised. The owners couldn't care less.
