I am doing the Maine Yarn Cruise and rating all the shops on it. This one is, no question, my favorite in the state. Yes, you read that bold statement correctly! Let me tell you why…. First, their selection is large and varied. They have higher end yarns like Malabrigo, but also some simpler yarns like basic lines from Berocco. The colors are so vibrant, and there is such a broad, well stocked selection that you’re definitely going to find the right yarn for your project AND enough skeins of a dye lot to finish it with ease. Not sure what works for you? Trouble choosing colors? Just ask any member of the charming staff and they will support you, with tips, color advice, and guidance. They ensure you leave with exactly what you need to complete the project of your dreams. They don’t stop there though! The selection of notions and tools is solid, and you’ll easily find what you need. They also have reward programs and even take the lead in organizing the Maine Yarn Cruise! Is there anything this shop can’t manage?! Well, maybe crochet, as the owner freely admits that she and her staff are mostly knitters. But that’s minor, and I’ll say that they’re very open minded about new ideas to incorporate crochet in the future. Finally, I’ll say that signing up for their emails is worth it. I did and I’ve had advance sale notice, opportunities for classes with well known designers and more! No question, hands down, best yarn shop in the state!

I can't express how much I love this store. The ladies who work there are so friendly and helpful. So many wonderful yarns, sustainably produced and beautiful. Here are some things I've made from yarn I obtained there.

A wonderful store for any knitters dream! Delicious yarn, nifty notions, knitting needles, patterns, books and many samples made for inspiration. The best part is the staff. They are experienced, knowledgeable and so ready to help you create your new knitwear. Best shop ever!

This is a GREAT yarn shop with beautiful yarns and samples of knitted sweaters etc everywhere. I was helped by a GREAT lady that assisted me with my color choices for two sweaters. Since we no longer have any yarn shops near our home, I had not been in a shop for several years so it was a great treat to visit this wonderful shop.

What are the Covid safety practices like here?

We're open M-Sat. from 10-3, we allow 3 people into the shop at one time, require face masks that cover the nose, and we require signing in for contact tracing. We can also do phone or online orders for pick-up to minimize contact if that is desired.

Patty, how do I purchase a gift certificate for Beckie during this time in history?!! Thank you. Gertrude Sweetland

Hi Gertrude, If you can't come into the shop, you can call the shop during business hours (we're closed right now) and place an order over the phone. Is she still local? Our gift cards can't be used for online sales, but she can use it in the shop and for a phone order (she can shop online and then call us). We'll take down your info and can either mail it to you or her. The shop number is 207-869-5280. Or, we're open Mon., Tues., Fri., Sat. from 10:00-3:00 and Wed. and Thurs. 10:00-6:00, closed on Sundays. We're pretty careful and only let 3 people in at a time, so sometimes there's a wait if you're going to come up to the shop. Usually right at 10:00 it's not too busy or just before closing. I won't be in on Saturday, but should be here all next week. It would be good to see you and catch up. Acacia is also working here and I'm sure you'd get a kick out of seeing her. She's usually in every afternoon. Say hi to George! Patty

Do you sell roving wool, if so, what is the price range

Hi Margaret, We sell a limited quantity of roving. We have some Malabrigo Nube in a small assortment of colors (100% Merino) and a wee bit of BFL. The price ranges between $15 to $20 per 4oz hank.

The 4th color was DST 063 Natural (19.50) all in Dos Terras.

No longer in the area. Recommend that you call the shop.

Are you aware that there are two#12 shops on the yarn cruise. Can you identify the mystery one on the coast? Enquiring minds want to know, LOL. Shirley
