When my friend and I walked in the two hostesses just stared at us without any greetings. They looked at us with almost a look of disgust. This is not the Springfield I remember from 2016. Burger was okay and the fries were below average. However, the waitress was very professional and welcoming making the visit worth it.

We are long time customers of Springfield Grille. The food has been very inconsistent over the last few months. Tonight we visited and ordered the hummus appetizer; it was very bland and didn't have olives like it used to. I had the pasta special with shrimp and it had zero flavor. It was supposed to have a light garlic and oil sauce, but didn't have any zest. It was also supposed to be tossed with spinach; when I asked out it, the server told me that they were out of spinach. The shrimp tasted boiled and old. The asparagus was not tips; it was small pieces of stock cut up. They told me it was a different chef today and that they were not prepared to serve it and were going to pull it from the specials. Last week they had a fabulous pasta special with chicken and shrimp and it was outstanding; fresh, full of flavor and should be added to the regular menu. What is happening to my favorite neighborhood restaurant?

Had the steak & cake, felt the steak was just slightly over cooked for a medium rare, but still acceptable and delicious. Steak had a nice almost smoky sear and the cran / lobster cake made a nice counterpoint. Good atmosphere. Wood everything. Waitress was lovely and attentive. Seating was right in front of the toasty fireplace. Felt like a ski lodge a bit. Very enjoyable. If I lived closer by, I'd probably come for steaks at least once a month.

I ate at Springfield twice during a trip to PA and both times our server went above and beyond. The first time I ordered the ribeye, caeser salad and baked potato. After I place my order, the server came back very apologetic and said that they're out of the Caesar so I changed the Salad order. Next she came back and said the baked potatos were gone. She felt so badly that she comped our fried zucchini app. Then I had to tell her that the steak was very tough and gristly so the manager came by to apologize and brought me a delicious sirloin strip steak. Our next visit for brunch and our server was Jason I believe who was an absolute delight. He ran out of blueberry muffins and felt bad so he said he was buying us dessert. We chose a chocolate cheesecake to go and when he brought it he said he added the peanut butter pie as well as a treat for us. I have never had servers offer us free food when something went wrong and it was so nice and definitely memorable. I think more restaurants should do this. It certainly made an impression on me and my family. Everything we had was great and I'm especially in love with the crispy fried zucchini. Can't wait to go back!
