I took my daughter there for her first time fishing. It was a great spot and super easy to rent fishing rod and bait. We caught a little stingray the first time fishing so she had a blast.

Bought lots of beautiful sea shells here at a very reasonable price for decorating my beach themed guest room! The wrapped them great for transport. Staff was friendly and cordial

We had a large group and the staff did great! They were very friendly, food came out fast, hot, and very good! Would highly recommend that you make your way to the pier and enjoy the views as you walk to this throwback diner! They even give you the milk shake canister for you to finish off after your shake is made.

Agree, on the pier you do need a fishing license. On the beach you do. We used blood worms and mussels to fish off the pier. I did not see any place off the beach that you could buy fishing license's.

Nope, been the same since 1987 and is the 6th pier built in oceanside believe it or not. https://www.ci.oceanside.ca.us/gov/pw/beach/pier.asp has an interesting history of the piers.
