I had an AWESOME experience donating blood for the first time! The staff is incredibly helpful, kind, and professional. The blood stays local too, which is great.

My school had a blood donate day, and of course I did it because It always makes me feel good about myself. Now usually we always have Red Cross, but this time we had bloodworks. My experience was very different from other times. The staff were very friendly and super fun, but they needed more help on how to stick a needle in your body. The man who drew my blood had went in my left arm, my vein was deep and more difficult to poke, he stuck the needle in and the needle was too short and not able to reach my vein fully, leading to bruising down my arm, and light headed for several hours after going onto the next day. He also drew blood from my right arm since the left didn’t work out so well.

Been donating blood at BloodWorks NW for years. The staff are excellent people. I like to sign up for the next donation while waiting at the canteen and drinking juice. Regular donations are a big help to the community.

Staff are always great. Snack bar is tasty. Never takes to long and you are plenty comfy. I'll take here over Red Cross any day. Only problem is they keep telling you that you need a card and they will mail it to you, but they never do lol.

Typically yes. Sometimes allergy and cold symptoms can be similar so if you are coming off a cold maybe give a little extra time to ensure that you are cold free. If course it also depends on what you are allergic to if you are asking about having a severe reaction to any of the materials used. Bloodworks no longer used latex gloves if that is your allergy.

No. It is a volunteer blood donation.
No, blood centers that collect for patients are regulated by the FDA and may not pay donors to give blood. Plasma centers do pay
No because the blood we collect goes directly to our hospital partners for patients. You can get paid at a plasma center though. There are a few in Vancouver
