My fiancee and I went to Richard Gretz to help us design our non-traditional engagement rings. After reading about jewelers online (and having minimal personal experience), we were both a little wary of being taken advantage of or dealing with pushy salespeople. This could not be further from the experience we had at Richard Gretz Goldsmiths. They were happy to answer our questions and give advice. Julie took excess care and time to make us feel comfortable and explore different styles in store, helping us narrow down what we wanted to do. While I had a good idea of what I wanted for my ring, my fiancee did not and we worked with Richard, Irene, and Julie to create two intricate rings that are beautiful, unique, and complimentary - we can't get over how perfect they are for us. Working with this goldsmith was very easy and the attention to detail was superb; every staff member went above and beyond (Irene was amazing for all our wax appointments and questions). After getting our engagement rings, I was back within a week to design my wedding band and was able to again create a unique and gorgeous ring that I'm in love with. We would highly recommend this business!

After being hassled by a big name jeweler in Portland, who assured me that they could not do what I wanted with a diamond that I already had and would not take responsibility for any damages that occurred while setting the diamond, I went to Richard Gretz for my fiancé's engagement ring. Richard made the ring to the exact specifications that I requested and made a point to tell me that upon completion of the ring, if my fiancé didn't love the ring, we would start from scratch. All the while, he took full responsibility for any complications that came from setting the ring. Richard and his entire staff were so courteous that when it came time for my fiancé to pick a wedding band, I encouraged her to go to Richard. To no surprise, he delivered again and made the ring exactly how my fiancé envisioned. Of course, the warranty for any jewelry made in the shop is outstanding. I will not hesitate to go back to Richard Gretz for any future jewelry requests and would encourage anyone else to do the same.
