Best hike in all of Washington! We started our day by dropping off one car at the Snow Lakes Trailhead and then taking our other car and starting the hike at the Lake Stuart trailhead. We started our day at 4:45 AM. The hike to Colchuck can get a little steep and pretty rocky. Once you get to the lake you need to walk all the way around and get to Asgard. Asgard was crazy but manageable at a slower pace. Go super early if you can so you can beat the sun when hiking up. Once you get to The Enchantments there is really no shade until you get down to Snow Lakes so make sure to bring some sun screen and LOTS of water. The bugs were pretty bad too so bring some bud spray as well. Right now most of the lakes are still frozen and there is still quite a bit of snow on the ground. We didn't have any use for our spikes on the hike. The hike from Snow Lakes to the car was a drag and felt never ending. Just gotta keep on pushing. Round trip was 22 miles and 5,080 feet elevation gain. This is a must hike in Washington State, will be coming back in the fall to check out the larches.

I did the enchantments as a day hike in late June, and it was the most incredible and most challenging hike I’ve ever done.

This is up there with the most beautiful hikes I’ve done. It is so tranquil on the route with piercing crystal clear blue water in the lakes. Bring at least 2000 calories of snacks per person, salt tablets, bug repellent, sunscreen, and a water filter

A day-hike for the ages!! 20 miles, 5500’ of elevation gain (and 2000’ more of descent). Started at 6:30am, finished at 7pm with minimal rest breaks. Hiked in early August 2020. Aasgard Pass climb was exhilarating and oh-my-god was the view at the top special! The ascent was next-level hard, with over 2000’ of elevation gain in under 0.75 miles. Rocky terrain made for a gradual, slow, descent from the top down through the cascading lakes, but it was akin to experiencing a fantastical world of pristine nature. Hardest hike I’ve ever done, but so, so worth it (provided you’re in good enough shape)!Camping would be lovely, but permits are tricky to come by

Enter the lottery or try for a walk up permit
The hike to snow lakes is around 7 miles with parking close to the trailhead if you are early. The through hike is around 28 miles and is pretty technical in nature.
Totally possible, depending on weather. But all of the trail will be under heavy snow and you will need to be a competent navigator. Above treeline, the navigation will be hard unless the weather is perfect. But give it a go!
No dogs allowed in the Enchantments
