Amazing experience as we arrived a few hours before low tide to hike and explore the areas above and below the cliffs. Very well groomed trails with stair steps to ease hiking and guide the way down and back up. Lots of sea creatures present in the tide pools as well :)

Beautiful views!!! I recommend you go on a clear sunny day for the best views. It costs $20 to enter with a regular car. This pass is valid for 7 days, so you can go and come as you please. If you have a National park annual pass, definitely bring it so you save money.

The tide pools are the most fun spot around Cabrillo and Point Loma! The parking lots fill VERY quickly so expect to circle and keep looking for an opening. Once there, be sure you have checked the tidal charts. The further out you venture the more likely you'll find octupus, crabs and fish. You'll have a great time!

NPS Point Loma tide pools, Cabrillo Statue, lighthouse, and the views are worth a visit while in San Diego! It is a Naval base (note photo of cemetery, and closes at 4:40 in winter when we visited in January (check times plan ahead, low tide for tide pools are best.) Beautiful views!

Use google to find the low for each day as the low tide time changes each day.
You can also buy a national park pass that's good that all the national parks if he go to a lot of national parks I think it's like 80 bucks but don't quote me on that number
It is a National Park so have a fee per car if driving into the park, per person if walking. Ed everything else is free once into the park. If you have your National Park pass you get in free.
There is a road that you can drive down to get to where the tide pools are located. If you are driving down from the top where the lighthouse is located, there will be a left turn that you can take which leads to where the tide pools are.
Tide pools closed until 9 am
I'm sorry to say that they are not. The trails are dirt and there are steps to get near the pools. To get to the pools requires descending a short "drop" or using small crags on the rock to get down past the drop.
