Good experience. Grab a bucket. Fill it with dirt. Sift out the gems. Employees tells you what you found.

This is a fun experience for everyone. You choose between digging for gems yourself, or searching for gems in a premade bucket. Either way you will enjoy discovering what you find. The couple who own the mine are such nice people! If you're looking for something fun to do with he kids, bring them here.

πŸ’ŽAbsolutely LOVED our experience. 🀩 Was looking for a gem mining experience that was off the beaten path and away from the tourist spots, nestled in nature. Rose Creek Mine delivered. The drive to this place was wonderful and the owners were delightful. Enjoyed digging our own buckets and sifting at our own pace. We thought we’d stop for an hour and ended up spending all afternoon - closing th place out. We walked away with gorgeous gems, Rubies, Saphires, Emeralds and felt so relaxed by the end of the day. Would definitely come back.

Ok, my wife is the gem miner but this is THE place to go, better than any other I have been to and have been to many. Dig your own pail from the mine - excellent touch. And the exam by the folks who run it is the best part. Knowledgeable, friendly and they label and bag your treasures while you watch - an excellent part of the overall experience. The grounds are beautiful with many flowers, bird feeders and a playground for the kiddos. Also have a gift shop if you didn't clean what you wanted. We will definitely be back. Recommend the Super bucket and let friends helpπŸ‘

Questions & Answers

Do the rubies found at this mine have any value? I got one from a salted bucket that weighs over 400 grams. Just wondering if it is worth anything. It is not translucent. Very dark red. It does fluoresce.

We were just there on closing day. They reopen in April. Tom sent us to Artisan Gems in Franklin to have our rubies assessed. Laurel was a great help and told us which of our stones were worth cutting. They had reasonable prices for cutting them, too. Hope this helps.

Are you guaranteed to fine something in every bucket?

Samantha Carroll, there is something guaranteed in the enriched buckets. With the native buckets, there's no guarantees, but I've always found a few really nice sapphires, and a few weeks ago, got a very large Sapphire with gorgeous color and a large ruby, that you can see a bit of color, and it's a deep, clear, bright red. Some of the most beautiful garnets have come from Rose Creek. Cowee is a great place too. I've been going to Franklin over 15 years and Rose Creek and Cowee are the best. Honest, good people, who are helpful, very knowledgeable. At Rose Creek in the super buckets, there's also a plastic packet that has at least one cut negative, ready for mounting. You can have them mounted into jewelry anywhere. On my last visit I got a set of trillium cut, heart shaped peridot that will make great earrings. My other bucket had a gorgeous tear drop shape citrine (6 carats), & matching round Citrine crystals for earrings. Each of those retail for $100, which equalled bucket pric
