It’s a really cool setup, but man please get organized and clean up! When I got there, I had no idea how to go inside. Finally found it, staff was friendly. I enter the bathroom and it was a disaster. It was filthy and badly needed to be cleaned. Went in the theater, it was FILTHY and gross. Clearly hasn’t been cleaned in awhile. Popcorn everywhere and considering I had a 12pm showing, it was obvious it wasn’t cleaned from the night before. Come on now. Thank goodness for my sanitation wipes!

For some reason there was nobody working upstairs at the theater, so we had to go downstairs to ask for help. They called someone who didn't know how to sell us tickets so she was on the phone with someone else and we were late for the movie even though we arrived on time. You're supposed to be able to order food from your seat via a call button, but nobody came for almost an hour so we had to ask for help downstairs again. The food was good, but they automatically added a 20% tip when we had to put in extra work to be served. The workers we interacted with were helpful, but management needs to make sure there are enough workers to help the few people who show up.

The reviews are correct. The lobby looks terrible, and the lobby bathrooms are overflowing with urine and are disgusting. The staff do not care. Unfortunately this is the only theater in the area. Hopefully it gets fixed soon but for now at least the tickets are cheap and there is reserved seating spaced apart

I don't like providing negative reviews but there were so many things that lowered the rating at the theater box. When we arrived, the lobby was under maintenance and it looked rather abandoned. The guard was very helpful and gave us directions to where the theater was located (upstairs via the elevator). When we got inside, none of the overhead lights were on so it was very dark and we were informed that particular theater room had not had functioning lights for a while, the trays at our seats were not clean. Since we were the first to arrive for the movie, we asked to have them wiped down but it was a little while before they came through. It's a full service theater that provides a selection from the Sugar Factory downstairs but only one of the 2 seats' service buttons worked. It was a while before someone actually came to take our order. The main screen was dirty, or possibly damaged, so the picture quality was not great and during quieter moments in the movie we could hear the sounds from the adjacent theater showing through the wall. I'm sure some of these things are due to Covid creating budget issues but this theater needs updating in a lot of ways.

I recommend not buying online and just going there. I paid for tickets but when I got there was offered free tix at the door.

Are you asking about the movie theaters or the restaurant/food places? I don't have enough experience. Who does or may have? Perhaps contact staff directly, who may have enough experience with the trends/patterns/history? I like the suggestion for option to book/reserve, especially for your special events or groups. Lookup their contact info, seems they prefer telephone call for reservations. Could still be busy or not, so may not answer your question well. $5 movie Tuesdays are not necessarily scheduled every Tuesday. 1st verify if occurring on any specific Tuesday date, by news at their Website or at their social media pages, or online movie showtimes & ticket price/purchasing services like Fandango.
This place does not have provided parking. Street parking is mostly for pay & limited & can be full or competitive, on busy streets. More likely to find available space father away, more walking. Not good for groups of cars. Other options are larger parking structures/lots nearby, like Horton Plaza Mall. Shop around for size/spaces, pricing, availability. Downtown San Diego CA parking mainly for pay & often expensive. Or use alternative transportation to final destination. FRED, free rides in Downtown San Diego CA (while available). Public transit (some park & ride lots). SDMTS or 511. Directions available in Google Maps. Ride share. Taxi. Pools, on demand or scheduled. Can research options, like at 511 or iCommute or other commute sites; search online or phone call.
Yes, the movie theater is open @ Theater Box. Check their Website for info (limited) & for list of movies showing. Their movie showtimes & ticket prices & purchasing are available online/Internet at Fandango. (Verify prices with theater, as some seem may be wrong if very low, like $1.). (They advertise $5 Tuesdays @ Website. Not sure if Fandango has this correctly.) I also recommend check their social site pages/profiles (like Facebook, Twitter, etc.) (Links are @ their Website).
