Great views of the lakes from the fort. Not terribly busy...even on memorial day weekend.

This place was great. Beautiful scenery, awesome fort to explore. And the guy working in the museum/shop was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. I highly recommend a visit here.

Fort Loudon is free to all
If you go to www.tnstateparks.com and look under events you can find out what is happening at each park.
Yes. Check website for hours that welcome center/museum open.
It closes at sunset, so 4:30 might be cutting it close if you go in the winter.
No. It is a historical park with a life-sized replica of the fort, a kayak ramp, a hiking trail and a picnic area. More like a state park than a play park. I know there are two parks with basketball courts in Madisonville if you care to go that far.
