Very clean. Smaller airport, so it doesn't have the crowds that you find at bigger ports. Good bar and grill to wait at during layovers. minutes or less from restaurants and hotels in Williston.

Parking and access to the Williston airport terminal was easy. Friendly and efficient United staff. The TSA officials were great and security service was smooth and very efficient.

Very nice airport - the best small airport we've ever used. Public areas are spotless. Lots of seating and power. TSA fast and friendly. Nice amenities. Restrooms great. The rental car return area is a decent walk from the terminal - not bad in nice weather, but it could be an issue in snow, ice and subzero cold. Hope flight options expand to make using XWA practical for more itineraries.

XWA is a new airport in Williston North Dakota. It has replaced ISN Airport. XWA is very modern and has many new amenities and services that ISN did not have. It has a bar and restaurant in the sterile area, as well as a gift shop. It has 4 boarding gates as well as a separate floor for baggage claim. This airport is a dramatic improvement over ISN, and I look forward to seeing this airport expand in the future.

Baggage elevators are active and operational. It is the decision of each respective air carrier to choose to use these devices. Their staff handle all baggage through XWA.
I would say 45 minutes early is enough. If you are checking a bag and want to be very comfortable, maybe an hour would be better.
Currently parking is free. The parking management infrastructure construction is underway and will most likely be into the new year before going into effect. The parking will be a single fee (not separate long term/short term areas) Proposed fee will be $10/day, but not official yet. There will also be hourly parking with the first 30 minutes free. Will try to update when a completion date is set, but when the ticket machine and swing arm gate are activated at entry then parking charges are in effect. There will be credit card machines and a pay booth at exit.

XWA is the three letter code for the new Williston Basin International Airport.
You can book now, but should use the airline's website directly, versus other sites. On either Delta or United put "Williston" in the search bar. On United it will then pop up with both ISN and XWA, and then select Williston (XWA). Also on United only, if you are booking out of ISN before the 10th and returning after the 10th into XWA you need to book that flight as a multi-city (advanced search), versus round trip. On Delta it may still say ISN in the search bar, but when you select a flight after the 10th that flight will then say XWA. Thank you for your question and patience as the airlines work to update their reservation systems.
October 10, 2019 will be the first day of operations at XWA.
