The main gate was wide open? The gate to the weather station was wide open?

Old airport with long grass growing up through the cracks. Deserted and quiet. No service but an outhouse. As far northwest as I could fly. Can hike to the beach/ camping.

They are working on the runway now. But yes planes still use the airport. They mostly do touch and goes.
