I came in by ambulance (kudos to the ambulance EMTs, they were wonderful) through the emergency Department at Abbot on Friday morning. The Dr and nurse I saw there couldn’t have been kinder. He decided to admit me for the night and I got right into a room. I never felt neglected or disrespected, unlike my last stay a year ago. Then I actually had a nurse refuse to help me “I have a bad shoulder” and left me to struggle on my own.I cried after she left. I reported her, maybe it made a difference for other patients. I hope so. Anyway this stay was nothing like that. Every nurse and Dr was kind and not judgemental (at least outwardly). I did have an iv that “went bad” and blew up my arm with fluid. So the Dr prescribed me antibiotics in case it got infected. My nurse was very apologetic. My sense is that is something that just happens sometimes. I was there for 2 days and one night. I got a decent sampling of the patient menu. Not bad at all! For breakfast I had a fresh fruit cup, toasted bagel with cream cheese, and a few turkey sausage links. I ordered what I considered safer things ( like don’t order fish at a hospital!). And there were nice options for snacks between meals. I ordered an extra banana or bag of baked Lays in case I got hungry. My fave meal was a cheeseburger with the side of mashed potatoes and gravy. With chocolate ice cream for dessert,” lol. If you are on a restricted diet, of course, your options will be more limited. I had zero complaints this stay.

Frighteningly incompetent operation here. Usually use mercy hospital. Will never again use Abbott. Upper level management for the non-medical operations side needs to go away. Need people who are competent and break suction to go see what is wrong.

both the doctors and nurses in this hospital are professional. kindness, smiles, teamwork everything was great. most of all, it was good that everyone tried to treat the patient with one heart. hospital facilities are also good. thanks to everyone. I pray God's blessings to all.

At hour 3 of waiting and watching people who came in after me get helped before me, I simply asked the front desk if I missed my name while I was in the bathroom, and she rolled her eyes and gave me attitude about it. I understand your job is stressful and dealing with the waiting room is hard, but I've been nothing but polite and patient. I'm writing this review at hour 4 now. I'm the last person I recognize in the waiting room now that was here when I got here, so maybe I'll be helped soon. edit: upgrading to 3 stars from 1 star because after I finally was seen, the doctor was awesome.
