Fantastic happy hour deals on food (personal favorite are the nachos, definitely large enough to split, and basically every chip is a “good chip” which is NOT a guarantee of every restaurant’s nacho plate, sadly). Also tried the watermelon spritz since this was our second drinks stop, and it was really delicious! Their margaritas are really good too, but it’s nice to have some non-alcoholic options too

Fun, loud music, lots of energy! My brothers and I arrived around 9:30 at night on a weekend night. It took a minute to get our orders ordered but the chips and salsa made up for it. The salsa is absolutely delicious with cilantro has a very addicting taste. I ordered the flutas.... Amazingly big and super delicious. The waitress was attentive and very nice she advised that the kitchen was a little bit behind but like I said everything was worth the wait. I didn't order any drinks but they look very tasty judging the table next to mine. Bill was about average for the environment and type of place it was not overly priced but not cheap either.

Was craving a Margarita and some Mexican food for lunch today so I decided to hit up The Matador. It’s the first time I’ve come in for lunch and I was happily surprised. It wasn’t super busy so we just found a seat up at the bar. The drinks came out fast. The chips and salsa hit the spot and my meal was outstanding.

The music was a change from the typical traditional Mariachi. Decor was dark and simplistic with large glass window panels that slide open in the cocktail section. Outdoor seating was tight but comfortable. Happy Hour menu has ample food choices. Chips and salsa were free and heavy on the garlic. We shared a Quesadilla garnished with guacamole and their signature crema. My partner chose Shrimp & Lime slathered in the aforementioned signature crema and a side of rice. I went with my favorite meal Roasted Chili Relleno paired with a topping of corn, tomatoes and thin tortillas chips served atop of, you guessed it, a layer of their signature crema, which was also beneath two huge Pablano Green Chili's. Black beans flanked the peppers filling the platter generously. My taste buds having been assaulted by the garlic in the salsa, honestly tasted no flavor in everything I ate afterwards except for the brewed, unsweetened iced tea with lemon 👍 Service was very pleasant. Prices were midrange and matched up with most Portland dinner menus. I did expect Relleno to be a traditional stuffed chili and batter fried. I was disappointed that it wasn't. I might also add, when it comes down to Black Beans, I much prefer Cuban style as these on my plate were lacking flavor and served up al dente (ultra boring). I won't be in any rush to dine there again in the near future, but I might consider it five or six years from now if they are still open.

Solid. Spaced tables, online menus, contactless payment and standard mask requirements!
We don't have brunch at this time but we'll keep you posted if that changes!
Most restaurants are required to be ADA accessible including the bathroom and I believe this matador location is in compliance. Bathroom is big enough and definitely no stairs.
Hi Taylor, At this time, only service animals are allowed on our patio. Thanks for reaching out to us!
Hi Pat, We don't take reservations as we are first-come-first-serve. Hope you can stop by!
