The officer on the afternoon shift today manning the passenger vehicle lane acted as if I was committing a crime by returning home to the United States—a polar opposite experience from going into Canada. It's concerning to me that Canadians arriving for business or tourism, ready to spend money in our country, are being greeted at the border with a bad attitude. I used to work for the police, still train with police friends, donate thousands to police charities, and have family members in law enforcement. This officer's "angry for no reason" demeanor makes things difficult for all the rest of us when he leaves a negative impression of law enforcement on the community. It may be worth considering doing a refresher on community policing and public relations.

I crossed a while ago and forgot to review. The officer was professional. They respect the Second Amendment here (it is Idaho after all). No hassle bringing my handgun from Canada.

Well, after they held me for 6hrs waiting for the Magistrate to appear, they (the Canadian Government) informed me in the nicest way possible that I would be severely punished if I ever tried to enter Canada again. I just wanted to see the northern lights.. Point is, everyone was professional and courteous, even though it wasn't my idea I'd fun, it was made all the better by good manners and a smile. Thanks guys, won't be visiting soon 😎
