Update: The wait was very long and I was expecting a somewhat lengthy wait but my problem was in the way it happened. Give a date then when it was close they extended the time. It went to almost 4 months from an original of 2 months. Anyway, the meat itself was good. Nice and tender. Even the cheaper cuts of meat were almost tender enough you did not need a knife. I put in another order because they were saying 6 months wait time. Since I was expecting the meat to last me 6 months that would be fine. I upgraded my rating based on the meat itself and took away some for the issues of keep extending the delivery date. Put a deposit down on a side of beef because they made it sound like they have the beef but due to people in front of me it will be 8 weeks. Kind of long but I understand the lines. I called at 8 weeks and was told 3 more weeks. Not happy but I suppose it's to be expected with guessing on time. Called at 11 weeks and told at least 4 more weeks. I am really not happy now because what's next... 5 more weeks? This went from 8 weeks to at least 15 weeks. Double the estimate. And due to being 12 weeks into this I am kind of stuck because any other place I will be so far behind that it might be 6 months to a year. Love how they offer refund like they are doing it to be nice. They don't have any option but give a refund if someone asks for it since they have not come close to their promise. I understand Covid caused some issues but they said they had the meat. They didn't say anything about snags at slaughter. The second estimate should have been thought out better. Now I have a third estimate and who knows if it is a good one. I doubt they will do anything for their original estimate being doubled to make it up to the people who have no options other than just waiting. So if you don't have an order already look someplace else. This meat better be good and not tough.

I love Scott and Gwen but the meat was too tough to chew so I called the store. Due to Covid, they were booked a year in advance so they offered me a refund.

The people here were extremely nice. However, after picking up my elk after being processed I was quite disappointed with both the cut and wrap, especially for the price. The meat was not trimmed very well; the roasts had tons of gristle and were rolled with it hidden in the middle. There was quite a bit of hair on the meat, too. All of the meat was only single wrapped with butcher paper and after about a month the meat was beginning to become freezer burnt. I still had some meat from the year before that was wrapped so well it still wasn't freezer burnt. The previous year I had taken my elk to a different place, who charged 25 cents a pound less than crown, and they first wrapped the meat in plastic, then butcher paper, trimmed the meat very well, and I found no hair on the meat. Needless to say, I will be going back to the place who charged less and did a superior job, even if they are a further drive.

I was unhappy with my experience at Crown Foods. I was specific about how I wanted the meat processed. When I show up to pick up the meat I was told that the quantity of wild game did not allow for it to be processed the way I had requested. Therefore they change my order. If they had given me a phone call this could have all been cleared up before the meat was processed. Instead they just changed my order without asking. The staff was friendly and the final product was packaged well. However when paying a large price for processing and not getting the product you want it is very discouraging. We will not be returning to Crown foods.
